By God's grace, the mother church in Techiman continues to grow and start new works.
In January of 2007, Pastor Stephen Sarfo Adu (a graduate of CBTS) relocated from Akuma to Oforikrom to
become our permanent missionary pastor for both the villages of Boankron and Oforikrom. After almost
a solid year of ministry God has blessed them with an average attendance of 100 people on Sunday
mornings. Please pray for this precious family, our church is their only supporting church, and we
alone cannot meet all of their financial needs, an extra $50 per month would make a great difference
in their lives and ministry. God has also enabled us to buy a nice building lot beside the
main road in Oforikrom. Pray for His blessing to build.
Due to a generous love offering from the Campus Church, in Pensacola, I was able to travel
to Ghana this year for the Easter service. This year marked the 10-year anniversary of Laurie's death,
and my heart was aching as the day approached. I begged God to sooth the pain in my heart by allowing
me to see the fruit of this extravagant sacrifice, and that He did! In the Techiman district we had
3,400 people come to church on Easter morning and 160 people confessed Christ as Savior.
By God’s grace we secured the building permit to begin construction of our new church
building on December 14th 2007. With the money, the blue prints, and the building permit in hand we
should move full steam ahead. Because of the constant increase of fuel prices in Ghana the cost of
building material and labor has gone up considerable, but we are hoping to accomplish a lot with what
God has intrusted to our care. The building should accommodate at lest 1,000 people when it is
completely finished.
This year we joyfully accepted Pastor Miguel Triano on to our staff as our youth pastor.
Pastor Miguel was sent our by, The Living Word Baptist Church in Mexico City. He arrived with his
family in July of 2007, and is a strong preacher and a very humble servant to God.
While I was on furlough and before Pasto Miguel came, Pastor Samuel and Pastor Atta were
leading this great work alone. The load was tremendous and they did their best but some things had to be
left undone. Our Attendance for the first half of 2007 was around 250, but during the second half it
has been over 300.
In October, during our Fath Promise missions conference we tried to raise $4,000 to send the
Gueh family back to Liberia to start a church in Monrovia. Pastor Gueh is a graduate of CBTS
and has served as a pastor in our Krobo church for over four years now. It will break our hearts to
see him leave but God has called him home to Liberia to help spiritually rebuild his war torn country.
Joe has committed support from four Baptist Church totaling just over $100 monthly. We projected his
support needs at just below $300 per month. We are still needing $2000 of the $4000 to send him.
